Bertha M. Taylor
Bertha M. Taylor, 94, of Saint Albans, W.Va., went to be with her Lord, Monday, May 14, 2018, with her family by her side.
She was born December 16, 1923, in Cedar Grove, W.Va., a daughter of the late John Lee and Gertrude Eikler Estep.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph “Bennie” Taylor; brothers, Burl and Jerald Estep; sisters, Nellie Hundley and Pearl Hamilton; and a grandson, Lionel Britton Rexroad II.
Bertha was the former owner of Blue Kitchen in Cedar Grove. She was an active member of Highlawn Baptist Church, Saint Albans, and a former member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid reader.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by daughters, Christine Ann Griffith of Bentleyville and Barbara Szymanski (Ed) of Temperance, Mich.; a brother, Thomas H. Estep of Saint Albans; grandchildren, Debi Gillespie (Eric) of Cross Lanes, W.Va., John Lee Griffith of Bentleyville, Alexander Taylor Rexroad of San Francisco, Calif., William Anderson Griffith (Roberta) of Stockdale and John Gary Rexroad of Vietnam; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, 110 B Street, Saint Albans, WV 25177, where a celebration of Bertha’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, with celebrant H.R. Whittington presiding. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be served at Highlawn Baptist Church, 2304 Jefferson Avenue, Saint Albans. A graveside service will be held at 2:45 p.m. at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, W.Va.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Highlawn Baptist Church, 2304 Jefferson Avenue, Saint Albans, WV 25177.
