Lucy Mae Elliott

Lucy Mae Elliott, 83, of Amity, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.

A daughter of the late Lester Earl and Sarah Frances Hatfield Elliott, Lucy was born October 3, 1934, in her parents’ home on their farm in Amwell Township.

She was a 1953 graduate of Trinity High School. After graduation, she worked at Atlas Glass and Hazel No. 2 Glass House in Washington. She later cleaned houses in the area. Her life was devoted to the family’s farm, raising sheep, goats and gardening. She enjoyed growing African violets.

She was a strong woman of faith and read her Bible every day. Lucy attended Amity United Methodist Church, Washington Wesleyan Church, Faith Baptist Church of Waynesburg and most recently Calvary United Methodist Church of Pittsburgh.

She loved to put jigsaw puzzles together, often giving family and friends completed puzzles.

She was lovingly cared for by her friends and staff at Hillsview Personal Care Home in Claysville, Presbyterian SeniorCare Southmont in Washington and Concordia Hospice.

Surviving are her brother, John (Genell) Elliott; nieces Robin Elliott, Marci (Bill) Love and Krystal (Scott) Moore; great-niece Bethany Moore; and nephews Kenny (Brian Burns) Elliott and Willy (Melissa) Elliott.

She was preceded in death by brother Kenneth and sister-in-law Joan Elliott.

Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, with the Rev. Larry Homitsky officiating. Interment will follow in Amity Methodist Church Cemetery.
