John Thomas Watters
John Thomas “Tom” Watters, 90, of Carmichaels, died Wednesday, October 31, 2018, in Waynesburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Watters was born December 1, 1927, in Marianna, a son of the late John Thomas and Irene Ruth Volker Watters.
He is survived by his second wife, Martha H. Watters; a son, Howard T. Watters; a granddaughter, Alexis Nicole Watters; a great-granddaughter, Nora Ann Watters, brothers William, Charles, David and Frank (Phyllis) Watters; brother and sister-in-law Vince and Elizabeth Parise; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his first wife, Ruth M. Watters; a brother, Raymond; and sister Ruth.
Mr. Watters was a graduate of Cumberland Township High School in Carmichaels. He attended 2 years of technical school at Penn State.
He worked as a welder at the Fruehof plant in Uniontown, as an electrician at Mt. Braddock and Crucible mines, as a school bus driver for Carmichaels Area School District, and as a farmer.
He served his country in the Korean War.
Tom was a member of First Christian Church of Carmichaels, where he served as a deacon and trustee.
He was a member of American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491, both of Carmichaels.
Mr. Watters was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home Inc., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, PA 15320, 724-966-5100, where additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, November 5. The service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Reagan Fike officiating.
Burial with full military rites will be accorded in Hewitt Cemetery, Rices Landing.
