Norma Jean Mullins Strimel
Norma Jean Mullins Strimel, 86, of Chartiers Township, died Saturday, November 3, 2018, in her home, with family by her side.
She was born May 8, 1932, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Charles “Cal” and Isabelle Durand McCartney.
Mrs. Strimel attended Trinity schools and was a former member of Chartiers Crossroads United Presbyterian Church.
She worked at the former Tiger Valley Glass Factory in Washington, RCA in Canonsburg and Hills department store.
Norma volunteered at the former YWCA in Washington and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, decorating cakes, the casino and spending time with her family camping.
On March 24, 1951, she married John “Barrel” Mullins, who passed away March 19, 1991. On August 27, 1994, she married Norman Strimel, who died October 3, 2013.
Surviving are four children, Sharon Anderson of Chartiers Township, John N. Mullins Jr. of Avella, Terry Lynn Mersino (Bill) of Marshall, Texas, and her youngest daughter and caregiver, LuAnn Morris of Cokeburg; seven grandchildren, Dennis Korzinski Jr., David Korzinski (Missy), Stacey Wiley, Chad Mersino (Debbie), Heath Mersino (Ruth), Clint Mersino (Melina) and Jessica Morris; 12 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Harley Korzinski, Alex and Destiny Dugan, Brock and Braden Wiley, Nathan, Luke and River Lynn Mersino, Claire Rizzo, Laura Jones and Caleb Varella; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are granddaughter Sheila Korzinski Dugan; grandson John N. Mullins III; and sister Betty Whitfield.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 7. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
