Alphonse “Moe” Gisoni, 96, of Washington, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in Transitions Healthcare, South Strabane Township.

He was born September 17, 1922, in Washington, a son of the late Joseph Gisoni and Geraldine Mascello Gisoni.

Alphonse was a 1940 graduate of Washington High School. He also graduated from Penn Commercial College and attended Duquesne University.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II.

Alphonse retired from the RCA plant in Meadow Lands after 33 years of service.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, attended daily Mass for years and served as an usher.

Mr. Gisoni was a member of American Legion Post 175, Alpine Club and Elks Lodge 776.

He enjoyed gardening, golfing and spending time with family and friends. He also like helping those in need.

On July 5, 1958, he married Shirley Ullom, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Michael (Sheri) Gisoni; daughter Roxanna (Gordon) Laubert of Massillon, Ohio; brother Joseph Gisoni of Washington; sister Rose Miles of South Carolina; six grandchildren, Stephen Reifsnyder, Juliana Fink, Regina Smiddy, Michael Gisoni, Anthony Gisoni and Jarod Williams; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a sister, Mary Hlipala, and two brothers, Albert Gisoni and Michael Gisoni.

Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, November 12, in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Washington. Entombment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, with military honors accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington, PA 15301.
