Betty Jane Weaver
Betty Jane Weaver, 91, formerly of Pancake (Laboratory) and Strabane Trails Village, UPMC Senior Community of Washington, passed away peacefully with family members by her side Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Premier Health Center, where she had been in declining health for the past six months.
She was born February 8, 1927, in Atlasburg, a daughter of the late William S. and Edith A. Baldwin.
Betty Jane was a 1946 graduate of the old Hickory High School.
She was the longest living member of Laboratory Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the adult choir for over 60 years. A very devoted and active deacon, she also taught Sunday school and was a vacation Bible school director and Girl Scout leader.
Until her retirement in 1998, she was a dietary manager for Trinity Area School District at Windsor and Laboratory elementary schools.
On June 6, 1947, she married Clarence McCoy Weaver, who died October 23, 2002. While together, they enjoyed many years of camping, going out to eat after church at different dining locations, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her two children, the Rev. Dr. William C. (Suzan) Weaver of Linden, N.J., and Colleen (David) Dille, formerly of Prosperity, now residing in Washington; four grandchildren, Tara (Walter) Durr of South Beaver, Tammy (Ken) Varner of Washington and Janelle (Mark) Foster and Patrick “James” (Gira) Weaver, both of New Jersey. She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren, Brian and David Gottschalk, Kaylynn Varner, Samantha and Charlize Foster, Cecily Weaver, Natosha Durr, Courtney (Michael) Geruschat and Rachel and Jacob Foster; and two great-great-grandchildren, Alianna Durr and Emma Geruschat.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, is a sister, Aldine Parry.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Tuesday, November 13, in Laboratory Presbyterian Church, 23 Manse Street, Washington, with the Rev. Donna Christopher and the Rev. Sue Petritis officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
