Roger D. Illig

Roger D. Illig, 73, of Atlasburg, died Thursday, November 8, 2018, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born November 14, 1944, in East Liverpool, Ohio, a son of the late Elmer J. and Helen Pritchard Illig.

Mr. Illig was a graduate of South Side Beaver and a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He retired from the IBEW Electrical Workers Local 1919.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Burgettstown, Knights of Columbus Council 3440 and Bishop Boyle Assembly 4th Degree and Honor Guard.

Mr. Illig was the patriarch and heart of his family, believing the love of family is life’s greatest blessing.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Joanne Murin Illig; daughter Annette (Chris) Green of Joffre; son Matthew Illig of Canonsburg; grandchildren Sara, Ryan and Evan Green, and Levi Dvorsak; sister Beverly Srigley; and brothers Elmer “Jerry,” Tom, Mike and David Illig.

Deceased are his granddaughter, Emily Green, two sisters and three brothers.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, November 12, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Burgettstown, with the Rev. Harry R. Bielewicz as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
