Mary Louise Rice

Mary Louise “Beezie” Scott Rice, 92, of Waynesburg, died at 7:15 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018, in her home.

She was born Monday, March 8, 1926, in Whiteley Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late Lewis Russell Scott and Mary Margaret Morris Scott.

Mrs. Rice was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Waynesburg. She enjoyed reading, listening to music and playing solitaire. From 1963 to 1993, she, with her husband, was owner/operator of Waynesburg Floral. She retired in 1993, when they sold the business to their son, Rusty.

She is survived by her husband, John C. Rice, whom she married August 7, 1945.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Louise (James) Johnston of Waynesburg and Joyce Lynn Rice of Imperial; four sons, John David (Pam) Rice of Gainesville, Fla., James Russell “Rusty” (Christie) Rice of Prosperity and twins Lewis Raymond Rice and Stanley Scott Rice, both of Waynesburg; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Parson of Dover, Maine, and Carol Kroll of Cabot; brother Ross Scott of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are daughter Janet Lee Kelly and two brothers, Stanley Scott and Lewis Raymond Scott.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, with the Rev. William Sukolsky officiating. Burial will be in Oakmont Cemetery, Waynesburg.
