Carl D. Bigler
Carl D. Bigler, 91, of Washington, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018, in the home of his daughter in Waynesburg.
He was born December 2, 1926, in West Bethlehem Township, Washington County, a son of the late Orris Perry Bigler and Helen Mae Schrontz Bigler.
He was a 1943 graduate of Trinity High School.
Mr. Bigler was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater.
On March 19, 1948, he married Helen I. Mankey Bigler, who passed away April 14, 2002.
He worked for 34 years in the specialties department at Jessop Steel.
Mr. Bigler was a lifelong member of Lone Pine Christian Church. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are a daughter, Joy A. Gensler of Waynesburg; a granddaughter, Ann Inghram McCarty-Chess and husband Craig; two great-granddaughters, Madeline Elaine McCarty and Emily Claire McCarty; a brother, Gary Bigler and wife Roseann of Washington; a sister, Mary Franks of Cortland, Ohio; and many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Bigler and William Bigler, and six sisters, Lydia Wonsettler, Esther Jean Theakston, Marjorie Faye Riggle, Rita Murphy, Edith Bigler and Ida Mae McGuane.
Private services are under the direction of Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg.
