Carol Ogren Hadlock went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early morning hours Monday, November 19, 2018.

Carol was born October 7, 1929, in Ashtabula, Ohio, a daughter of Oren A. Ogren Jr. and Bessie Onion Ogren.

On April 23, 1949, Carol was married to John William Hadlock, in the Presbyterian church located in Kingsville, Ohio.

She is survived by her spouse, John William Hadlock of Waynesburg; two daughters, Rebecca L. Humble and husband Johnny Bill Humble of Waynesburg and Deborah L. Brown of Stewarts Draft, Va.; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish Carol’s memory are a sibling, Wayne Lloyd Ogren and wife Belva Ogren, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceding Carol in death, in addition to her parents, are her daughter, Cheryl Armstrong Ranwez, married to Francis Ranwez of Rome, Ga., and her brothers, Jack A. Ogren and Thomas Ogren.

She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and served the church in many capacities, including as pianist, organist, accordionist, accompanist, praise band member and hand-bell choir and Heaven Bound Ministries choir member. As a pastor’s wife and supportive prayer warrior for many congregations in Kelloggsville, Ohio, Prosperity, W.Va., Welch, W.Va., Elkins, W.Va., New Castle, Waynesburg, Memphis, Tenn., Delray Beach, Fla., California, Pine Hill, Tenn., and Dickson, Tenn., Carol and her husband were involved in evangelism, serving with interim pastoring, work and witness trips. One exciting adventure involved taking Bibles into China. Carol was passionate about missions and served many years as District Nazarene World Missions Society secretary in Tennessee and Southern Florida. She received the Distinguished Service Award in the denomination. She served as a private school director and as a church secretary, as well as serving as a district office secretary while living in Florida.

Carol was a composer of gospel music, often used by vacation Bible school and special mission programs. A true testimony of Carol’s love of Jesus was reflected in the song she composed, “Expect a Miracle,” which goes: “Miracles happen every day. We know that it’s true. Ask in faith, and you will see the miracles God can do. Lives transformed by His mighty power. Hearts are changed and made new. God’s still dealing in miracles. Just wait and see what He’ll do. Expect a miracle. Expect a miracle. The Lord is waiting now to hear your prayer. For God is still the same. He’ll never, never change. Expect a miracle today, in Jesus’ name!”

Her children would like to honor their mother with a memorial fund by producing, copyrighting and marketing her song, “Expect a Miracle.” Any donations for this purpose may be made out to the Carol Hadlock Memorial Fund, 221 Hull Run Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370. The funds will be used to advance the beautiful gift she gave to us: her testimony, her song.

Some of Carol’s interests included painting, crocheting, gardening, flower arranging, collecting and preserving antiques, organizing, pottery making and crafts. She loved to write stories, newsletters, skits, poems and journals. She enjoyed singing, acting, kickball in the yard and was known to have ridden four-wheelers. Carol loved to travel, by car, plane or camel. Now to infinity and beyond.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 2, in First Church of the Nazarene, 115 Deerfield Lane, Waynesburg, with Pastor John Poling officiating.
