Eva Kate McCrary

Eva Kate “Katherine” McCrary, 82, of Washington, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018, in Washington Hospital, with her family by her side.

She was born May 5, 1936, in Washington, a daughter of James and Gertrude Marsh McNeal.

Mrs. McCrary was a graduate of Washington High School.

Katherine worked as a nurse’s aide for several area nursing facilities as well as security for Canonsburg Housing Authority and was a great baby-sitter for her grandchildren.

She enjoyed reading the Bible, writing to special people in her life and cooking and baking. No one left her home hungry.

Mrs. McCrary was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Canonsburg.

Surviving are a son, William McCrary Jr. (Myra) of Lawton, Okla.; three daughters, Carla Williams (Mark) of Washington and Toni Fowler (Michael) and Constance Jones (Terry), both of Pittsburgh; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; twin sisters, Emma Williams of Washington and Thermie Davis of Pittsburgh; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Deceased are her husband, William McCrary; her companion of several years, Robert Richards; a brother, James McNeal; and a sister, Audrey Gray.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, November 26, in Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 120 Greenside Avenue, Canonsburg, PA 15317, where services will begin at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Anita Lovell officiating. Interment will be private.
