William Hodgkiss
William Hodgkiss, 83, of Washington, died Thursday, November 29, 2018, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
He was born December 22, 1934, in Alverton, a son of the late William Hodgkiss and Flora Mungall Hodgkiss.
William was a graduate of East Huntington High School and received an associate’s degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War, and worked for Cooper Industries as an electrical tester.
Mr. Hodgkiss formerly attended North Buffalo Presbyterian Church and was a current member of View Crest Presbyterian Church.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed camping and traveling. He enjoyed working with young people and worked 17 years at Washington Area Career and Technical Center as a classroom assistant. He was also a supporter of Boy Scouts of America.
On September 9, 1961, he married Dorothy Patterson, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Bob (Nancy) Hodgkiss, USAF Col. (Retired), of Los Angeles, Calif., and Dan Hodgkiss of Parker, Colo.; a brother, Eric (Dorothy) Hodgkiss of Scottdale; a sister, Jean Hatfield of Ruffsdale; four grandchildren, Amanda, Daniel, Monica and Mike; and three great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Caleb and Atticus.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a sister, Ruth Hodgkiss.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, the time of service, Monday, December 3, in North Buffalo Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Gary Gibson and Pastor Shaun Nolan officiating. Burial will follow at North Buffalo Church Cemetery. (No Sunday evening visitation)
