Gloria Jean Smith
Gloria Jean Smith, 74, of Graysville, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2018, in her home, after a valiant fight with cancer.
She was born Friday, July 21, 1944, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Fred Menzl and Catherine Scarpaci Smith.
Mrs. Smith was affiliated with the Baptist faith.
She enjoyed bingo and watching horse races with her husband. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Harvey’s Grange 1444 of Aleppo. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Rex J. Smith, whom she married October 10, 1964, died October 31, 2000.
Surviving are four daughters, Carmie Smith of Graysville, Rebecca (Ron) Davis of Graysville, Betty Jo Smith of Waynesburg and Billie Jo Smith of Chester, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Robert (Renee) Smith, Anthony (Rebecca) Smith, Ryan (Tiffany) Smith, Ronald (Taylor) Davis, Shelby (Josh) Davis and Joseph Davis; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Mary Edgar of Waynesburg and Susan Menzl of Pittsburgh; five brothers, Walter Menzl of Seattle, Wash., William Menzl of North Versailles, Robert Smith of North Carolina, Ken Smith of Atlanta, Ga., and David Smith of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Robert Smith, and her stepfather, Robert G. Smith.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. The family will hold a public memorial service at a time and date to be announced with Pastor Bradley Edgar and Pastor Joe DiDonato officiating. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville.
