Robert L. Copeland
Robert L. Copeland, 85, of the Jakes Run community, Fairview, W.Va., died Saturday, September 29, 2018.
He was born June 17, 1933, in Pentress, W.Va., a son of the late John Maxon Copeland and Laura Dell Tennant Copeland.
Bob was a retired pipeline welder. He was a member of Pipefitter Welders Local Union 798.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served as a paratrooper.
Surviving are his wife, Ileen Matteo; two sons and their spouses, Randolph Copeland and wife Valerie of Dayton, Tenn., and Ronald Copeland of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two daughters and their husbands, Nancy Jane Eddy and husband David of Milton, Ky., and Mona J. Caskey and husband Teddy of Farmerville, La.; two brothers, Jimmy Copeland of Fairmont, W.Va., and Danny Copeland of Blacksville, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Betta Jane Cummins Copeland; a son, Robert L. Copeland Jr.; three brothers, Raymond Copeland, Enoch C. Copeland and John M. Copeland Jr.; and a sister, Ruby Simpson.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, with Randolph Copeland officiating. Interment will follow in Blacksville Cemetery.
