Mary V. Irey

Mary V. Irey, 103, of Washington, formerly of Ten Mile, died Monday, October 1, 2018 in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.

She was born March 27, 1915, in Ten Mile, a daughter of the late J. Sanford and Ida Martin Gibson.

She was a 1935 graduate of Trinity High School and was a homemaker.

Mary was a former member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church in Ten Mile. She was a member of Lower Ten Mile Presbyterian Church in Amity. She had been a Sunday school teacher, elder and also took care of cleaning the church. She was a member of Amwell Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Lagonda Homemakers. She enjoyed quilting, her flower garden and baking for the family.

She was married to the late Arthur C. Irey, who died September 22, 1986.

She is survived by a son, James Irey of Washington; brother Wallace “Bud” Gibson of Washington; sister Norma Beecham of Washington; two grandchildren, Kathy Booher and Janet Irey; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are two sisters, Esther Cooper and Jean Day, and four brothers, John Gibson, Lawrence “Ike” Gibson, Paul Gibson and Ralph Gibson.

Family and friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, with Pastor Linda Mankey officiating. Interment will be held in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ten Mile.
