Robert Owen Chadwick
Robert Owen Chadwick, 80, of Washington, died Sunday, October 7, 2018, in his home.
He was born May 3, 1938, in Washington, a son of the late Earl M. and Alice Rush Chadwick.
He attended Trinity Area schools. His family raised him on a horse farm, where Washington Crown Center now stands.
Mr. Chadwick proudly served with the U.S. Army National Guard in the 110th Infantry Regiment.
For 43 years, he worked as a truck driver and warehouseman for Pyramid and Guttman Oil companies. He was a member of Teamsters Local 926 for 43 years. Robert played a large part in helping to start Canton Volunteer Fire Department on Weirich Avenue.
He attended Trinity Bible Fellowship.
Mr. Chadwick coached Little League football for Log Pile Lagonda and Washington Youth Baseball. He loved spending time with his family. A Pittsburgh Steelers and Wild Things baseball fan, he enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, working in the yard and woodworking. Shorty’s was his favorite place to eat.
On October 12, 1957, he married Diane Ramey, who survives. On Friday, they would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Also surviving are three sons, Mark (Gloria) Chadwick of Madera, Calif., Brian (Denise) Chadwick of Cibolo, Texas, and Jay (Kimberly) Chadwick of Washington; two sisters, Mary Alice Zimmerman of Burnsville, Minn., and Kathleen Bell of Washington; six grandchildren, Samuel, Robert, Madeline, Alexis, Daniel and Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Donald Scott Chadwick, and a sister, Carol Henley.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Home Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 13, with Pastor Michael Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
