Francis X. Hanlin

Francis X. Hanlin, 84, of Slovan, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018.

He was a son of the late Joseph A. Hanlin and Margaret McLaughlin Hanlin. He was predeceased by his seven brothers and sisters.

Frank was a 1952 graduate of Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia.

Frank met Dolores Testa and they married in 1953. They were married 64 years, until her death March 20, 2018.

He worked as a pipefitter at Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and as a route salesman for Lance Cookies and Mrs. Smith’s Bakery readymade division while in Philadelphia. After relocating to Slovan in 1972, he worked for Mrs. Smith’s Bakery as a manager of the frozen division in Monroeville. Later, he worked at Quality Rolls, Schavio Foods and then as a millwright at Climax Molybdenum Co.

He was assistant fire chief at the Slovan volunteer fire/rescue department. He was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a life member of Raccoon Valley Sportsman Association.

Frank is survived by his children, Debbie Eckrote and Frank Hanlin Jr. and wife Michele; grandchildren Jenny and husband Joey, Danny, Maggie, Tony and wife Lauren, Michael and Matthew; and great-grandchildren Aidon, Grace, Ezrah, Atticus and Harrison.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Jack Demnyan at 2 p.m. Friday, October 12, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1109 Main Street, Burgettstown. Inurnment for Frank and Dolores will immediately follow the Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Burgettstown.

Immediately following the committal service at the cemetery, a luncheon and time of fellowship will be held in Slovan Veterans of Foreign Wars, 65 Run Street, Slovan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Slovan Volunteer Fire Department, Slovan Veterans of Foreign Wars Barto Post 6553 or Arbor Day Foundation Tree in Memory.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lee and Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown.
