Ronald William Zombeck
Ronald William Zombeck, 69, of Muse, also known as “Pelo,” “Chico” or “Belgium,” died Friday, October 12, 2018, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, from complications associated with acute leukemia.
He was born July 11, 1949, in McDonald, a son of the late Joseph and Ethel Adamson Zombeck. He was raised by foster parents Bob and Jane Gibb.
He was a 1969 graduate of Fort Cherry High School. Ron raised and trained exceptional hunting beagles, He was an avid hunter and, after many years, finally got his first bear in 2014. He enjoyed fishing and camping, amateur woodworking and was a motorhead from a young age.
He worked for Operating Engineers Local 66 and for the last 12 years as a heavy equipment operator for Peter J. Caruso & Sons Paving. Prior to that, he was a coal miner at Aloe Coal Co. in Midway.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Toni Bomblosky Zombeck of Muse; two sons, Ron (Lina Bologna) Zombeck of Imperial and Alan “Butch” (Alyssa) Zombeck of Muse; three grandchildren, Lilly Michelle Zombeck, Nathan Josef Bologna-Zombeck and Jack William Zombeck; Kevin and Marissa O’Malley, who was treated as a son; two sisters, Frances (Robert) Stone of Primrose and Barbara (Bill) Dunn of Moon Township; and eight brothers, Larry, Albert, Rick, Randy, Denny, Timmy, Michael “Matt” (Lorraine) and Chucky (Betty) Zombeck, all of McDonald.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his foster parents; two brothers, Joseph and Stanley Zombeck; and a sister, Janet DeJohn.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Cecil, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, with Pastor Mike Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.
