Nick Cecil Sr.
Nick Cecil Sr., 70, of Washington, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018, in Washington Hospital, with family by his side.
He was born May 21, 1948, in Washington, a son of the late John and Lillian Evans Cecil.
Mr. Cecil attended Bentworth High School and was employed by Consol as an underground miner and crane operator for 41 years, retiring with a total of 44 years of service.
Nick was a member of United Mine Workers of America and American Legion, Houston.
His family was his world. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially at family dinners and on his daughter’s back deck. He also loved attending all of his grandchildren’s activities.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Mitchell Cecil; two daughters, Renae Myers (Charlie) of Houston and Michelle Bush (Mark) of Marianna; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Berteotti (Matt Poland) and Julie Amos (Cory), both of Washington; two brothers, Ron Blaze of Marianna and John Cecil (Joyce) of Washington; grandchildren Brandon, Christian, Lucas and Matthew Myers, Nicole Grimes (Isaiah), Jacob Bush and Colton Cecil; stepgrandchildren Kylie Poland, Olivia Barnhart and Bailey and Nathan Amos; great-granddaughter Violet Grimes; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a son, Nick Cecil Jr., who died May 12, 2016.
All services are private and under the direction of Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville.
