Idabelle Scandale

Idabelle Scandale, 89, of Taylorstown, died Tuesday, October 16, 2018, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.

She was born February 22, 1929, in Mannington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Elmer and Helen Ice Edens.

Mrs. Scandale was a graduate of Trinity High School and a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington.

She was employed as dining room supervisor at Holiday Inn, Washington, from where she retired. Mrs. Scandale then became an excellent homemaker.

She was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 22 Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 Ladies Auxiliary. She was the founder of Ladies of the Elks, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 776, where she provided many years of charity work.

Mrs. Scandale was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother who always had a cheerful smile and loving embrace for those who knew her well.

On June 30, 1970, she married Joseph P. Scandale, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Jeffrey; stepson Michael Scandale of Washington; stepdaughter Michele (Robert) Carl of Washington; brother Robert (Mary) Edens of Ohio; sister Mildred Dye of Washington; five grandchildren, Chad and Chelsey Carl and Sydney Scandale, Dianna Denman and Brandon (Nicole) Thomas; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law Edward Hickman; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a daughter, Melissa Anderson; stepdaughter Sharon Scandale Thomas; and sister Mary Anne Hickman.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., corner of Wilson and East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 22. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of Washington Cemetery.
