Mary B. Salamay
Mary B. Salamay, 79, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Washington, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 16, 2018.
She was born September 17, 1939, in Follansbee, W.Va., a daughter of the late Joseph and Kathleen Cocco Basile.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Salamay, and brothers Joseph and Donald Basile.
Mary was a 1957 graduate of St. Anthony High School and a 1959 graduate of Mt. Aloysius College.
Since her move to Ohio, she was blessed by the friendships she made through worship and music at New Albany (Ohio) Church of the Resurrection.
She was the matriarch of a large family, including her children, Anne (Ed) Holmes, Margie (David) Stewart, Tony (Tracie) Salamay, Kathleen (Mike) Wakeness and John (Heather) Salamay; her godson, Keith (Ellen) Frederick; special niece Karen Staib; grandchildren Ryan, Michael, Chris (Katy), Nathan (Cheryl), Noah, Emily, Cady, Matthew, Andrew, Natalie and Katelyn; six great-grandchildren; and her extended family and dear friends.
Jackie Russler brought so much comfort to Mary in her final days.
Friends will be received from noon to 1:30 p.m., the time of a blessing service, Monday, October 22, in William G. Neal Funeral Home, 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Albany Church of the Resurrection (Music Program), 6300 East Dublin-Granville Road, New Albany.
