Betty R. Day Johnson
Betty R. Day Johnson, 92, of Waynesburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 20, 2018, while under the care of Rolling Meadows Nursing & Rehabilitation, Waynesburg.
She was born August 21, 1926, in Rogersville, a daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred Ruth Guthrie Day.
Betty was a 1944 graduate of Richhill Township High School. She then received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Washington Hospital School of Nursing in 1947.
Betty was employed as a registered nurse at Waynesburg Hospital (WHS-Greene) for more than 16 years.
In 1947, she married Robert T. Johnson.
Betty was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church, Graysville. Her hobbies included reading, landscaping and decorating for the holidays. She also loved traveling to Wildwood Beach, N.J., and taking bus trips with friends, family and her former co-workers.
Surviving are two children, David R. (Sandy) Johnson and Dana R. Johnson, both of Waynesburg; two nieces, Pam Winters and Sharon Grossman; and five nephews, Jim Johnson, Tom Day, Jerry Johnson, Jeff Day and Brad Day. She will be sadly missed by Pete and Charlene Stofcheck and great-grandchildren Madison and Mason Stofcheck.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, who died February 23, 2017, and her younger brother, Thomas H. Day.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home LLC, 3275 West Roy Furman Highway, Rogersville, 724-499-5181, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, with the Rev. Donald Wilson officiating. Betty will be laid to rest in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to ViaQuest Hospice, 610 Park Avenue, Monongahela, PA 15063, for the amazing care Dr. Smith and the nursing staff provided.
