Stephen Yilit Sr.
Stephen Yilit Sr., 88, of Bentleyville, formerly of Avella, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018, in Madison, Ohio.
He was born January 9, 1930, in Charleroi, a son of Milorad and Anna Kruczek Ilich.
Mr. Yilit was a graduate of Charleroi High School.
West Penn Wire employed him as a maintenance shop worker for several years. He also owned his own farm in Avella and was a Hesston farm equipment dealer for many years. He spent a lot of time on the farm, raising beef cattle.
On May 14, 1955, he married Helen C. Golash, who passed away June 25, 2009.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen (Leslie Mullen) Yilit Jr. of Washington and Michael S. (Jan) Yilit of Kingsville, Ohio, and a daughter, Donna (Dave) Garner of Avella. Also surviving are two brothers, George (Iva) Yilit and Milan Yilit, and a sister, Anna Seng, all of Avella; three grandchildren, Dominic Yilit, Valerie Boyd and Rachel Yilit; and a great-grandchild, Bentley Boyd.
He was preceded in death by sister Mary Lou (Adam) Skokut; sister Evata; sister-in-law Elizabeth Yilit; and brother-in-law Regis Seng.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, where services will held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 25, with Pastor John Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
