Domenica Spataro
Domenica “Mimi” Spataro, 83, of Avella, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018, in Transitions Healthcare, Washington.
She was born October 26, 1934, in Cattolica, Sicily, Italy, a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Caterina Lazzara Renda.
Mrs. Spataro moved to the United States and settled in Avella in 1950. She was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Avella and the church’s Christian Mothers organization, Cross Creek Valley Senior Citizens and Red Hat Society.
She loved to go to the center, do crafts, garden, cook and be with family.
On July 16, 1950, she married Joseph Spataro, who died February 13, 2008.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary (Ken) Plants of Avella; granddaughter Michelle Plants; three great-grandchildren, Domenica, Kenneth and James; siblings Mary, Dominic and Tom, all of Montreal, Canada; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are two sons, Steven and Joseph; two daughters, Sandra and Katherine; and two brothers, Joseph and Tony Renda.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 25, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 97 Highland Avenue, Avella, PA 15312, with Father Harry Bielewicz officiating. Guests are asked to meet at the church. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Avella.
