Patsy Cimino, 91, of Washington, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 10, 1927, in Washington, a son of the late Peter and Constance Mazzie Cimino.

On April 4, 1948, he married the late Frannie Rosello, who died November 1, 2014.

He was a devoted father and grandfather to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He dearly loved his large Italian family and was always very proud of his Italian heritage. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy.

Mr. Cimino was a graduate of Washington High School and was both a barber and a musician. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he was a member of the Navy Band. He operated the Pat Cimino Barber Shop on North Main Street in Washington for over 50 years until his retirement at the age of 77.

At the age of 13, his brothers Louie and Johnny bought him his first trumpet and taught him how to play it in the back room of his brother Johnny’s barber shop on Wylie Avenue in Washington. Years later, he became a well-known trumpet player in the tri-state area as a member of his brother’s big swing band, The Johnny Cimino Orchestra. After his brother’s death in 1972, he formed the Patsy Cimino Combo and continued to play at various venues and events. He was a member of the Washington Jazz Society and in 2011 received the society’s “Musician of the Year” award.

Mr. Cimino was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Alpine Club and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. He enjoyed gardening, music, watching western movies and cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.

Surviving are his children, daughters Pat Vukmanic (Barry) and Judy Cimino and son Pete Cimino (Amy), all of Washington; grandchildren Eric Vukmanic (Kristin) of Louisville, Ky., Cathy Cimino (Brian) of South Carolina and Maria Cimino of Washington; six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Natalie, Anthony, Sophia, Angie and Bella; sister Patricia Sewock of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, mother and wife, deceased are five brothers, Sam, Joe, Louis, Johnny and Benny Cimino and three sisters, Katie Alberta, Rose Amistade and Mary Belline.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 27, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. As a tribute to Mr. Cimino’s lifelong love of music, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Jazz Society, 70 East Beau Street, Washington.
