Joseph August Almady Jr.

Joseph August Almady Jr., 77, of McDonald, Cecil Township, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born August 11, 1941, in McDonald, a son of the late Joseph Almady Sr. and Irene Kunkle Almady.

Mr. Almady was a member of McDonald Presbyterian Church.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was the former co-owner of ALCO Auto Parts.

He was was past president of McDonald Lions Club, a founding member of Fort Cherry Little Rangers, a life member of McDonald Fire Department and a founding member of McDonald Small Business Association.

He was Christian and a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was a special football coach, influencing great athletes in the area, including Marvin Lewis. He enjoyed fishing, berry picking and attending his grandchildren’s activities.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dessie Anne Wagner Almady of McDonald; son Keith (Darcie) Almady; grandchildren Kellen J. and Olivia E. Almady; sister Sandra (Ted) Ersek of Sturgeon; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a sister, Patricia Almady.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Thomas-Little Funeral Service Inc., 314 West Lincoln Avenue, McDonald, 724-926-2800, where services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Monday, October 29. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 444 Liberty Avenue, Suite 1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222-1207.
