Iva Jean Allison

Iva Jean Allison, 88, of Prosperity, died Friday, October 26, 2018, in The Grove at Washington.

She was born September 23, 1930, in Greene County, a daughter of the late Paul S. Simpson Jr. and Clara Sward Simpson.

Mrs. Allison was a graduate of Waynesburg High School and a member of Concord Presbyterian Church.

She was co-owner and operator of Allison’s Bakery from 1963 to 1989, and she loved cooking, entertaining and collecting cookbooks.

She was past matron of Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 187, Claysville.

On June 21, 1952, in Greene County, she married Donald E. Allison, who died July 22, 2014.

Surviving are a daughter, Pamela K. Ashby of Prosperity; two brothers, Paul S. (Geraldine) Simpson of Mt. Olive, Ala., and William “Butch” (Linda) Simpson of Carmichaels; two sisters, Lucille Holloway of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Twylia Caine of Cleveland, Ohio; two grandchildren, Justin (Lori) Ashby and Kaylea (Frankie) Post; three great-grandchildren, Meredith and Corbin Ashby and Dane Post; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two sons, Donald Mark and Gary Lee Allison.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 29. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
