Shirley Jean Friend Gallik, 83, of Strabane Woods, formerly of Marianna, died Monday, October 29, 2018.

She was born February 15, 1935, the eldest child of the late Ralph and Pauline Workman Friend.

She attended Myers School and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1953 and was employed by Bell Telephone Co.

Shirley married Albert Michael Gallik in 1956 and pursued the life of a military wife. She later became a florist and loved the profession.

Shirley was multi-talented and had artistic abilities with which she drew and painted. She sang, played the piano and organ and participated in various plays and musicals. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, cross stitch and crochet. Shirley was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she served on the church council and sang in the choir.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Lynn (Stanley) Rockovich of Canonsburg and Paula Kay (Eric) Hall of Nokesville, Va.; daughter-in-law, Tamara Gallik of Woodbridge, Va.; 11 grandchildren, Jenifer (Chris) Mayes, David (Ingrid) Rockovich, Elizabeth Austin, Randall (Beth) Baughman, Johnathan Balsamo, Christian, Hannah, Kadi, Sophia, Olivia and Issac Gallik; four great-grandchildren, Lillian and Maxwell Mayes, Levi Pardy and Lyncoln Baughman; three brothers, Richard G. Friend of Centerville, Edward Friend of Marlton, N.J., and John W. (Marge) Friend; sister, Carol Brewer of Scenery Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased are her husband, Albert M. Gallik, and two sons, Eugene Michael and Douglas Paul Gallik; sister-in-law, Phyllis Friend and brother-in-law, Lee Brewer.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of a Christian burial, Friday, November 2, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Scenery Hill, with the Rev. William B. Henry Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
