Mafalda M. “Daffy” Sabolsky

Mafalda M. “Daffy” Sabolsky, 87, of Cokeburg, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018, in her home.

She was born August 23, 1931, in Cokeburg, a daughter of the late Fred and Josephine McKay Peretti.

Mrs. Sabolsky was a 1948 graduate of Ellsworth High School.

She was the tax and earned income tax collector for Cokeburg Boro for over 30 years, tax commissioner for Bentworth School District for many years and was also employed with Ed Schultz Insurance of Scenery Hill for 35 years.

Mafalda was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, Charleroi, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, a church council member and pierogi maker.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed flower gardening and crossword puzzles.

Surviving are three children, Christine Bozovich of Cokeburg, Michael Sabolsky (Patricia) of Pittsburgh and Gregory Sabolsky (Penny) of Churchill; three grandchildren, Jaclyn Nemetz (Jon), Laurie Donlon (Joe) and Michael Hermenault; two great-grandchildren, Logan Nemetz and Lilly Donlon; two sisters, Carol Durko of Cokeburg and Loretta Lee (Tom) of Ellsworth; brother Fred Peretti Jr. (Mary Anne) of Youngstown; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Paul Sabolsky, who died July 16, 2016; son-in-law William Bozovich; and two sisters, Edith Simms and Gilda Testa.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 2, with the Rev. Gregory Peterson officiating. Interment will follow in Scenery Hill Cemetery.
