Albert R. Lutes
Albert R. Lutes, 86, of Brownsville, California Borough, and later Washington, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, October 30, 2018, in Presbyterian SeniorCare-Southmont, Washington.
He was born November 6, 1931, in Centerville, and was a son of the late Mary Messer Lipsky.
Albert was a 1949 graduate of Centerville High School and graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in industrial engineering.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1951 to 1954. He served aboard the USS Fort Mandan and the USS Bushnell. He had a successful career at Armstrong World Industries, serving as plant manager in multiple locations.
He had many interests, including serving in lay positions at church, travel, technology, playing chess and most especially enjoyed playing golf. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and was a wise man of character, with a loving and giving soul.
Albert was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monessen, and later St. Peter Lutheran Church, Uniontown.
On August 8, 1953, he married his beloved wife, Leila M. Lutes, who passed away June 21, 2016. They celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Surviving are a son, Lawrence A. Lutes (Jan) of Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; daughter Linda S. Weldon (Todd) of Center Township; a granddaughter, Heather J. Lutes (Tori) of Cokeburg; two sisters, Louise McKinney (George) and Ina Finn (Patrick); as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his wife and mother, is a brother, Jeff Lutes.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. Family and friends are asked to gather at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 3, for funeral services in St. Peter Lutheran Church, 121 Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, with Pastor Jim Engel officiating. Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery, Brownsville. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705 Centerville and the U.S. Navy.
