Jason Lane Harr
Social, talkative, kind and caring, as well as knowledgeable and sarcastically funny, describe Jason Lane Harr, 52, who passed away August 22, 2018.
He was born July 9, 1966, in Washington, a son of the late James and Virginia Harr.
Jason lived most of his life in his hometown, and after the premature passing of his father, he stayed at home with his mother, allowing her a long and full life until her death at 86 years old.
The last few months of his life, he realized his dream of living at the beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Melinda and Tim Curley of State College; a sister, Karen Harr of Myrtle Beach; and three nieces and a nephew, Devon and Tanner Curley and Dallas and Melissa Fletcher.
Jason graduated from Trinity High School in 1984, where he was a starting member of the soccer team. His team would be declared co-state champions after a 1-1 score in the longest soccer game in PIAA history lasting 160 minutes was called because of darkness. In 1989, he graduated from Washington & Jefferson College with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting and continued his soccer career at W&J.
After graduation, he worked as a staff accountant at Cameron Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Washington until 1997; as a sales representative for Gateway Office Equipment of Pittsburgh until 2006 and most recently as a service coordinator for Total Equipment Company of Coraopolis.
Passionate about gardening, he dedicated a large plot of the yard to vegetables and grew a 1,444 pound prize-winning pumpkin. He could “jerry-rig” any home repair. A family tradition, fishing and fish stories captivated him. Socially, Jason was a member of American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose, Arms, Independent, Keystone and Polish Clubs.
