Sally Ann Stefus Bailey

Mrs. Sally Ann Stefus Bailey, 66, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.

She was born May 14, 1952, into the Italian and Hungarian Protestant and Roman Catholic steelworker heritage of George and Virginia Pellegrini Stefus.

She was a 1970 graduate of Monongahela High School and worked as a teller in Equibank throughout her adult years.

A member of First Presbyterian Church, Monongahela, she was the youngest woman to be ordained to the Presbyterian eldership in that congregation. She married the Rev. James B. Bailey there February 23, 1980, becoming “the minister’s wife” until 1996, and thereafter in Calvary United Presbyterian Church, Donora, until 2016. She served on the church session, Pulpit Nominating Committee, Funeral Preparation Committee, Women’s Bible Class, Gibson Girl’s Group and Alphas Adult Group.

She was active in Washington Presbytery, was secretary of the Pittsburgh Engelbert Humperdinck fan club and enjoyed traveling across Pennsylvania, Buffalo, Iowa, Arizona, Florida, Germany, Italy, France, Alaska, Manitoulin Island in Canada and Hawaii.

Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her parents and aunts Laura and Irene Pellegrini.

She is survived by her husband; brother Gary Stefus and wife Kim of Coatesville; her husband’s children, Jonathan and wife Carla Bailey of Denver, Colo., and Bonnie Danni of Buffalo, N.Y.; granddaughter Danelle Augustynek and husband Daniel; great-grandchildren Michael and Madelyn; many nieces and nephews; friends and former colleagues in the Mid Mon Valley; other more distant relatives and in-laws; and many brothers and sisters in Christ in First Presbyterian Church, Monongahela, and Calvary United Presbyterian Church, Donora.

Memorial contributions may be shared with one of the above noted congregations, or Monongahela Valley Hospital.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday in First Presbyterian Church, 609 Chess Street, Monongahela, where a memorial worship service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 17. A luncheon will follow at noon.
