John Herbert Holt
John Herbert Holt, 78, of Washington, died Wednesday, September 12, 2018, in Washington Hospital.
He was born May 15, 1940, in Washington, a son of the late Herbert Holt and Matilda Clemm.
John graduated from Trinity High School and Elmira College and received his master’s degree from University of Pittsburgh.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked for Highmark Blue Cross as a computer programmer.
John was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder. He also sang in the choir for 30 years.
He was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and Washington County Community Chorus. He loved to travel and spend time with family.
On November 21, 1962, he married Barbara Kowalczk, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Lenore (John) Eppley of Indiana; a brother, Britt (Sharon) Holt of St. Louis, Mo.; a granddaughter, Heather Hershberger; and nieces Bridgette Mathias, Brittany Grenon, Bethany Holt-Watkins and Brianne Ventus.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 14, in Faith United Presbyterian Church, 900 East Beau Street, Washington.
