William Cavarzan
William “Manhole” Cavarzan, 90, of Avella, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018, in Washington Hospital.
He was born March 17, 1928, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Louis and Amelia Maria Marin Cavarzan.
Mr. Cavarzan was a lifelong resident of Avella. He was a 1946 graduate of Avella High School and was proprietor of the Cavarzan Amoco “Manhole” service station in Avella for 30 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church and Polar Star Mutual Benefit Society, both of Avella. He retired from Avella Volunteer Fire Department and was a founding member of Avella Athletics Inc.
Mr. Cavarzan was the last of his immediate family.
Surviving are cousins John Cavarzan, Gloria Comin and Sonny Cavarzan, all of Canada, and a cousin in Italy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 21, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 97 Highland Avenue, Avella, with the Rev. Robert M. Staszewski officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Avella.
