Louis Lamont Bauer

Louis Lamont Bauer, 71, died Saturday, September 15, 2018, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola, Fla.

He was born August 18, 1947, in McKeesport, a son of Francis D. Bauer and Dorothy E. Wilson Bauer Weaver. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Donald E. Weaver, in Scenery Hill.

He is survived by his second wife, Linda M. Bauer of Pensacola; stepdaughters Tina Dunlap Rogers, Melanie Dunlap, Melissa Jensen and Priscilla Jensen; sister Ruth A. Garvey of Yorkville, Ohio; brother Jack W. Bauer (Vivian) of Scenery Hill; nieces Mischa L. Barr, Jacqueline L. Fordyce, Pamela J. Reese, Lynn A. McVay House, Tammy S. Johnson, Janet M. McVay, Jennifer L. Hartman, Norma Smith and Diane Plowman; nephews Jack W. Bauer Jr. and Daniel J. McVay; and stepgrandchildren Alex and Allison Dunlap, John and David Bradberry and Robert Williams. He also leaves behind his close friends, Donnie Frazier and Alice Smith of Pensacola.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his first wife, Patricia Dunlap Bauer; infant sons Louis Lamont Jr. and Michael Lamont Bauer; and stepson Harry Dunlap.

He and his brother were newspaper carriers in the Scenery Hill area for the Observer-Reporter, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Press and the Sun Telegraph for 11 years during grade school and high school.

Louis graduated in 1966 from Bentworth High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as an airman during the Vietnam War era.

After being discharged from the Navy, he worked for Penn Birmingham Bolt Co. He also worked for Marathon as a manager of several convenience store/gas stations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Florida. He also worked on the family farm and orchard business for several years. Lou enjoyed selling produce at various flea markets and was a regular at Ebenezer Covered Bridge Festival for many years.

He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 706 in Pensacola and loved going to casinos, especially in Mobile, Ala.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Tuesday, December 18, in Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 2128 East National Pike, Scenery Hill, PA 15360, with the Rev. Kurtis Knoble, Lou’s cousin, officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Scenery Hill Cemetery, with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Scenery Hill Lions Club, 2130 East National Pike, Scenery Hill, PA 15360, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
