Dorothy F. Sarber Weaver, 95, of Washington, went to her heavenly home Saturday, September 29, 2018, in Southmont Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington.

She was born April 17, 1923, in Webster, a daughter of the late Harry E. and Katherine M. Stangroom Sarber.

At an early age, Dorothy and her family moved to the Tylerdale section of Washington, where she attended Clark School and Washington High School.

On November 10, 1940, she married Paul E. Weaver of Scenery Hill, in her parent’s home with the Rev. Clarence Weaver, uncle of the groom, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Weaver were married 64 years before his passing in December 2004.

Mrs. Weaver was the oldest member of Allison Avenue Baptist Church, now Abundant Life Baptist Church. She served as a deaconess for several years and enjoyed the ministry, donuts, devotions and dartball, which was started by her husband in the early 1990s. She kept a daily journal for over 50 years.

Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress and made many clothes for her daughters, son, grandchildren and herself. She also enjoyed needlework and made many keepsakes for family and friends. She also enjoyed tending her beautiful flower gardens.

Her cinnamon rolls were wonderful, and her Christmas breakfast ring was always a highlight of the holidays. There were always homemade cookies or goodies for her family anytime they visited. She always decorated her home for the season and holidays.

After her husband retired, they made many trips around the United States, and especially loved visiting with grandsons and families in Arizona, Delaware, Missouri, Alabama and Minnesota.

She will be sorely missed as she and her husband had a very close-knit family. She was a two-time cancer survivor.

Surviving to cherish her memory are two daughters and a son, Marjorie K. (Thomas) Harrington, Richard P. (Dorcas) Weaver and Lois E. (Irvin) Slade; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey L. (Jeannie) Harrington, Thomas R. (Cynthia) Harrington, Mark R. (Roberta) Harrington, Scott L. Harrington, Leslie A. (Dennis) Stevens, Steven A. (Dawn) Janovich, Kristin L. Janovich and Rikki S. (Anthony) Piotrowski; 11 great-grandchildren, Jannah (Jamie), Jacie, Justin (Shari), Jennifer (Darin), Andrew, Katherine (Jeff), Paul, Haley, Madison, Logan and Kate; seven great-great-grandchildren; a cousin, Mary Jane Simonson; second and third cousins; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and their families.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are three brothers, Clarence Phillips, George Phillips and Leroy Sarber, and two sisters, Mary Nystrom and Ethel White.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., the time of service, Wednesday, October 3, in Abundant Life Baptist Church, 269 Cameron Road, Washington, with the Rev. George Garankosky officiating. Burial will follow at Scenery Hill Cemetery.
