Karen Lee Gunnerson
Karen Lee Gunnerson, 76, of Washington, died Thursday, December 5, 2019, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
She was born on January 14, 1943, in Washington, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mildred Gribben Kosey.
A graduate of Trinity High School, Mrs. Gunnerson went on to earn an RN degree from the Washington Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Gunnerson worked as a registered nurse for the Washington Hospital for 10 years, and Washington Steel for 15 years.
Karen was a devoted, and very involved member of the Washington Alliance Church, where she served as a Deaconess, taught Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School, traveled with the church Senior Group, and enjoyed her time with the Bible Study Group. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and volunteering with the Washington Area Humane Society and the Washington Christian Outreach. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren, and attending their band performances, and Bible Quiz Meets.
On September 11, 1965, she married Carl “Bub” Gunnerson, who died February 18, 2019.
Surviving are two daughters, Tracy Lynne (Darrin) Barber, of Bethel Park, and Karla Sue (Adam) Taylor, of Washington; four grandchildren, Lindsey and Jordan Barber, and Emma and Ethan Taylor; two nieces, Darla Barney and Jana Palmer; several great nieces and nephews; two great-great nieces; and her kitty cats, whom she adored.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, with Pastor Brian Greenleaf officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
