Melvin Wesley Hoffman
Melvin Wesley “Wes” Hoffman, 72, of Strabane, passed away peacefully at 11:47 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2019, in his home, with his loving family by his side, following a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born June 23, 1947, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Melvin George and Vesta “Betty” Daffner Hoffman.
Wes lived most of his life in Strabane and was a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School Class of 1965. Prior to his retirement he had been employed as a machinist at Washington Automatic for 30 years, and Washington Rotating.
Wes enjoyed classic cars, riding his Harleys, and was a gun collector. He loved oldies and country music and was a member of the Canonsburg Sportsmen’s Association.
On May 17, 1985, he married Rebecca A. “Becky” Yarkosky, who survives after 34 years of marriage. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Christine A. (Donnie) Thompson, Angela M. Crumrine and Tammie Otwell; his beloved granddaughter, Ella M. Thompson, who was his pride and joy; his sister, Debra (Joe) Mulshen; and several nieces and nephews.
