Sarah B. Schmelzlen
Sarah B. Schmelzlen, 18, of Carmichaels, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at her home. She was born July 17, 2001, in Washington, a daughter of Rachel A. Miles Schmelzlen of Carmichaels and the late Mark A. Schmelzlen.
Sarah was currently a senior at Carmichaels Area High School and resided in Carmichaels her entire life. She attended the Greene County Career and Technology Center, where she was studying in the health assistant program. Her instructor, Stacy Wheaton, was a great influence in her life.
Sarah enjoyed woodworking and visiting amusement parks and will be remembered for her big bright smile and willingness to help others. She participated in the Southwestern Summer Youth Training Program in 2018 and 2019.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a brother, Isaac D. Schmelzlen, at home; four sisters, Susanna R. Schmelzlen of Waynesburg, Miriam L. Schmelzlen of Uniontown, Esther F. Schmelzlen and Mary R. Schmelzlen, both at home; her paternal grandmother, Audrey Mae Schmelzlen of Hollidaysburg; and several aunts and uncles. She also leaves behind her pet rabbit, Mr. Bunt.
Deceased, in addition to her father, are her paternal grandfather, Herbert Paul Schmelzlen; and her maternal grandparents, Rev. Kenneth and Ethel Miles.
Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 14, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 15, in Yoskovich Funeral Home (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, December 16, at the Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle, 103 School Road, Mount Morris, with Pastor Bruce Craig and the Rev. Kenny Miles officiating. Private interment will follow. The casket will not be open for viewing at the church on Monday.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Gideons International in order to purchase Bibles.
