Lois Brown Diamond
Lois “Ruthie” Brown Diamond, 79, a resident of Freedom Place in Weirton, W.Va., the past three years, formerly of McDonald, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, December 14, 2019, after a long struggle with COPD, in Trinity West Hospital, Steubenville, Ohio.
She was born March 30, 1940, a daughter of the late Wilford and Sarah Coughenour Brown.
A graduate of McDonald High School, she worked as the deli manager for both the Weirton Shop ‘n Save and retired from Giant Eagle in McDonald.
Mrs. Diamond was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed playing Bingo.
Her husband Benjamin “Hoagie” Diamond, who she married June 11, 1960, passed away January 28, 1985.
She is survived by her two sons, Jeff Diamond of Pittsburgh and Keith Diamond and wife Kimberly of Baldwin; her daughter Denise Snarey and husband Bill of Weirton; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Brown and wife Barb of Augsburg, Germany; three sisters, Elizabeth Bruce of Canonsburg, Patty Moreau of McDonald and Sara Hughes and husband Norm of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are two daughters, Beth Ann Clarke and Debra Alouise and husband John; three brothers, George, Wilford and Ben Brown; three sisters, Grace Sivak, Nellie Bissett and Noreen Ulrich; and a grandson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, with the Rev. Dr. Christina Hosler officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Burgettstown.
