Robert Charles Smith Jr.
Robert Charles Smith Jr, 80, of McDonald, South Fayette Township, died Wednesday, February 6, 2019, in St. Clair Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1938, in South Fayette Township, a son of the late Robert Charles Smith Sr. and Alberta Thompson Smith.
Mr. Smith was an iron worker with Local Union 3 and was a member of the former Good Shepherd Church in Oakdale. He was Past Master of the F. & A.M. Centenial LaFayette Masonic Lodge, was a Little Rangers coach, little league baseball coach and was a U.S. Marine veteran. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and collecting trains.
Surviving are his wife of almost 58 years (February 18), Janet Cagnon Smith of South Fayette Township; his children, Robert (Kelly) Smith, III, Debrah (Jamie) Rohbeck, Thomas (Kim) Smith, Daniel (Lisa) Smith and Timothy (Sharon) Smith. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Gloria (Max) Colon.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild; sister, Linda Kessler; and brother, William Smith.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., the time of service, Sunday, February 10, in the Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 5000 Noblestown Road, Oakdale, 724-693-2800. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, with full military honors accorded by Canonsburg VFW Post 191.
