James S. “Jim” McKean
James McKean of Midway, age 83, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018.
He was born March 21, 1935 in Houston, PA; a son of the late James S. and Gladys Hepler McKean.
James was a graduate of Midway High school, class of 1953. He served in the United States Army. In his early years, he was an avid dairy farmer and later became employed at Champion coal preparation plant. Then he became a foreman at Consol Energy, retiring at age 55. He spent 25+ years traveling the country with his wife Marion.
He was a member at Center U.P Church in Midway, where he was a former Trustee and Elder. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.
In June of 1955, he married Marion Cagnon, who survives.
Surviving are four children, Pam (the late Bob) Lauff, Jeff (Nadine) McKean, Cindy (Mark) Baker, and Jimmy (BJ) McKean; a sister Betty Brobst; eight grandchildren: Justin (Jamie) McKean, Danielle (Dan) Rusnic, Steven (Krista) McKean, Nicole (Mike) Amaya, Alex and Philip Baker and Jesse and Allie McKean; five great-grandchildren: Alanna, Mia and Jilliana McKean, Tanner Rusnic and Neela Amaya.
Deceased are two sisters, Juanita Watson and Shirley Martin.
Family will receive friends from 12-3pm and 5-8pm on Sunday, January 6 and 11:30am to 12:45pm on Monday, January 7 at Nation Funeral Home Inc. 220 E. Lincoln Ave. McDonald, PA 15057, where services will be held on Monday at 12:45pm. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Center U.P. Church, PO box 563 Midway, PA 15060 or the Concordia Hospice of Washington Donnell House, 10 Leet St, Washington, PA 15301.
