Velma Carolyn Virgili
Velma Carolyn Virgili, 92, of Mather, died Sunday, January 6, 2019, in Waynesburg.
She was born May 12, 1926, in Masontown, a daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Urbany Valensic.
Carolyn was a 1944 graduate of German Township High School and a 1947 graduate of Uniontown School of Nursing. She was the last living member of her nursing class.
She worked as a registered nurse for many years at the former Greene County Memorial Hospital in Waynesburg.
Carolyn was a member of St. Marcellus Roman Catholic Church in Jefferson.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to audio books, reciting the Holy Rosary with Mother Angelica, watching cowboy shows and Westerns on TV, especially Cheyenne Bodie, sewing and being at home with family.
On January 12, 1949, she married Ernest “Big Ern” Virgili, who died March 10, 2005.
Surviving are five children, Christine Conrad and husband Sam of Waynesburg, Andrea Semenoff and husband Terry of Carmichaels, Patricia Benson of Brownsville, Debra Konosky and husband Michael Sr. of Waynesburg and Ernest Virgili Jr. of Mather; seven grandchildren, Leighanne Brunell, Nathan Conrad, Amanda Conrad, Katie Morgan, Carrie Beth Konosky, Mike Konosky Jr. and Jennifer Konosky; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Januaray 11. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Marcellus Roman Catholic Church, 1340 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, with Father J. Francis Frazer as celebrant. Interment will follow in Jefferson Cemetery.
