Kathryn A. ‘Kathy” Waychoff of Houston passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in Donnell House Washington with her devoted family by her side, following an extended illness. She was born December 29, 1958 in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Marie Duke Hete Jr. Kathy was a graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School class of 1977 and was Catholic by faith. Prior to her retirement she had been employed as a nurse’s aide at Mayview State Hospital for many years. Kathy was loved and adored by her family and friends and enjoyed her special times with them and her dogs Chloe, Chase and Scooter. She was a surrogate mother and grandmother to many children who referred to her lovingly as “Mama Kathy”. On July 12, 1980 she married Daryl “Ray” Waychoff, her loving husband of 38 years. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Kasey Waychoff (Jay Walton) of Virginia Beach Va., Shanon Waychoff of Houston, Johnathon Waychoff of Lawrence, Shelby Durham (Michael) of Chickamauga Ga., and Cristopher Hete (Deidre) of Muse; 6 grandchildren, Bianca, Liam, Gabriel, Baily, Trinity and Blake; a brother, Andrew C. Hete of Hickory; sister-in-law, Wendy Hete; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a brother, Anthony John Hete. Kathy’s family would like to acknowledge and give a heartfelt thank you to the 6th floor staff of Washington Hospital for the kindness and fantastic care given to her during the trying last days of her life.

Friends and family are welcome from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday January 12, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/ supervisor, Darla Tripoli LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 723-745-8120. A celebration of Life and fellowship will immediately follow at the Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, 2230 Washington Road, Canonsburg.
