Carl A. Ziots Jr.

Carl A. “Rick” Ziots Jr., 69, of Marianna, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1949, in Uniontown, the son of the late Carl A. Ziots Sr. and Betty I. Wilson.

Mr. Ziots was a 1967 graduate of Carmichaels High School.

He worked at Robena Mine for 9 ½ years, until its closing. He then worked for the Observer-Reporter, as Head Pressman, in Greene County, and Juryman, in Washington, until his retirement.

Mr. Ziots was an avid Steelers fan.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 744, Marianna, and a former member of Post 676, Waynesburg.

Mr. Ziots served as a Petty Officer 3rd Class+ in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

On April 19, 2002, in Spraggs, he married the love of his life, Laura Domick Murphy, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a stepson, James Murphy of Marianna; a sister, Dorthea Anderson of Wales, UK; and a brother-in-law, James Domick of Washington.

Deceased is a daughter, Monica Lynn Ziots.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Piatt & Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 15.
