Kathryn Jett
Kathryn Jett, 102, of Washington, died Saturday, January 26, 2019 in Concordia Hospice of Washington, Donnell House.
She was born February 4, 1916 in Prosperity, a daughter of the late John M. and Ruby C. Ashley Day. She was mere days away from celebrating her 103rd birthday.
Mrs. Jett was a 1933 graduate of Morris Township High School, and went on to graduate from Penn Commercial.
She was employed by PNC Bank for 41 years.
She was a 67 year member of the Beta Sigma Phi Chapter Tau Masters, as well as volunteering with the Washington Hospital Women’s Auxiliary. She was a long-time member of the Lone Pine Country Club and enjoyed playing in four different bridge clubs. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, golfing, reading, and spending time with her family.
She was a member of Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school in her younger years.
On May 16, 1952, she married R. Dennis Jett in Winchester, Va. Mr. Jett died May 12, 1993.
Surviving are two step-sons, Sidney (Lois) Jett of Lost Creek, W.Va. and John (Marilyn) Jett of Ocala, Fla.; a step-daughter, Carolyn Jones of Ocala, Fla.,nine step-grandchildren, Brad, Joe, Beth, Chris, Craig, Lori, Shanna, Mark, Scott and 15 nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, John, Ashley and Wilbur “Jack” Day; two sisters, Cleo McClay and Ruth Graham, and a stepdaughter, Patricia Wood.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, January 31, the hour of services, in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington. All other services will be private.
