Richard May
Richard “Stanley” May, 70, of Waynesburg, passed away Friday, May 31, 2019 in his daughter’s home, with his family by his side.
Born November 23, 1948 in Washington, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Helen Montgomery May.
Stanley graduated from McGuffey High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during the Vietnam War. Stanley married Brenda Morgan May on August 1, 1992 and they were happily married for 22 years, until her passing on December 23, 2015.
He was employed with Washington Penn Plastics for 23 years until his retirement in 2009. Stanley was retired for three years when he decided to go back to work for Sectek Inc. as a security guard for six years until his second retirement in April of this year. He was a member of the Waynesburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4793, Waynesburg American Legion Post #330 and Waynesburg Disabled American Veterans Post #123. Stanley enjoyed feeding and watching hummingbirds, riding his motorcycle, and most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by six children, Scott (Jennifer) May, of Washington, Crystal (Willie) Wheeler, of Houston, Eric (Mikki) May, of Allison Park, Tammy (Eric) Bedillion, of Claysville, Wendy (Andy) Geray, of Eighty-Four, and Jeremy (Lauren) May of Canonsburg; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles May.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 9, in Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC, 3275 West Roy Furman Highway, Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181. An additional visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, June 10, in the funeral home with a funeral service at 12 p.m. with Pastor Arnold Watts, officiating. A committal service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, with full military honors conducted by the U.S. Army and the South Hills Honor Guard.
