Donna M. Sakel, 69, of Washington, formerly of Marianna, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019, in Premiere Healthcare, Washington.

She was born June 19, 1949, in Washington, a daughter of the late John F. “Chinner” and Marie Anetta Mercante Cicci.

Mrs. Sakel was a 1967 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School.

She was employed as a waitress at The Meadows for many years and as a school bus driver with Pryor Bus Lines, retiring in 2015.

Donna was a lifetime member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Marianna Campus, a member and past president of Marianna American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and president for over 25 years of West Beth Park Board, where her major accomplishment was redoing the park and playground. She also served as Democratic Committee woman for West Beth Township for many years. She enjoyed cooking and baking cookies, especially for many weddings in the Marianna area. Donna was the recipient of several awards, including the 1998 Land O’Lakes Butter Best Cookie, NASCAR Tony Stewart Award and the Beth Center Community Education Foundation Inc. 2007 Person of the Year.

On June 27, 1981, she married Andy Sakel, who died on Thanksgiving Day 2004.

Surviving are a daughter, Sheri Watkins (Shawn) of Dublin, Ohio; a sister, Brenda Quigley (Jeff) of Marianna; a brother, John R. Cicci of Washington; three grandchildren, James and Michael Watkins and Erika Law; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a daughter, Dawn Law, and a grandson, Nicholas Watkins.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd. 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where a prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 7, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Richeyville Campus, with the Rev. Edward Yuhas officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary & Ann Cemetery.
