James Lewis Harris Sr.
James Lewis “Bones” Harris Sr., 85, of Washington, went to heaven peacefully Thursday, March 7, 2019, in his home.
He was born March 20, 1933, in Washington, a son of the late Leroy and Anna Reed Harris.
Mr. Harris attended Trinity High School. Following high school, he entered the U.S. Air Force, and was honorably discharged in 1953.
Jim worked at Jessop Steel Co. for 31 years, before retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Christian Church of North America.
Jim was a life member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion, a life member of National Rifle Association and National Wild Turkey Federation. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
On September 29, 1951, he married Jean Mazzie, who survives. Last year, they celebrated 67 wonderful years of marriage.
Also surviving are a son, James (Shari) Harris Jr. of Washington; two daughters, Christy (Michael) Yankovich of Washington and Diane (Denny) Confort of Washington; a brother, Jack Harris of Gretna, Va.; six grandchildren, Dacia, Dia, Karlee, Jim V., John and Gina; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, with the Rev. Rob Berk officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Church of North America, 605 Shirls Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
