Donald C. Devore
Donald C. “Bull” Devore, 72, of Washington, died Saturday, May 18, 2019, in Concordia Hospice of Washington, Donnell House.
He was born August 30, 1946, in Monongahela, a son of the late Russell F. and Nellie D. Hart Devore.
He attended Trinity High School, from where he graduated, and he went on to work at Mayview State Hospital, Fort Pitt Bridge Works, Joy Manufacturing and was an artificial insemination technician for Southwestern Pennsylvania working for American Breeders Service.
Donald proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard for eight years.
He enjoyed farming, Pittsburgh sports (particularly the Pittsburgh Pirates) and his animals, specifically his chickens and beloved dog, Mick. He also enjoyed playing slow pitch softball, where he played with the world champion Sol Mintz team of Washington.
He is survived by a brother, William R. (Becky) Devore of Washington, and niece and nephew Kristina (Doug) Hancock and Matthew (Jessica) Devore, both of Washington. He is also survived by two great-nieces, Kennedy Devore and Harper Hancock, and two great-nephews, Bryce Devore and Colton Hancock.
Deceased is a brother, Richard F. Devore.
Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington. An additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Friday, May 24, in Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 21 Church Road, Scenery Hill, PA 15360, with the Rev. William B. Henry Jr. officiating.
The staff at Evergreen Assisted Living and Concordia Hospice of Washington, Donnell House, provided support and loving care to Don.
